please help. now.
Right after Thanksgiving 2006, a girl no one had met before posted a random thread on a popular MySpace forum, MySpace Jews. The post was less of an attempt at online humor than a thinly veiled cry for help. In it, the girl, who we will call Ms. B, told of how the police had just left her house, looking in closets expecting to find her bloody dead body. She said, after being pressed for further information, that no one should worry, that her husband was just "really awful when he drinks."
It was this "random" cry for help that served as the inspiration to start Clicks of Hope. Clicks of Hope is an umbrella charitable organization, one of whose main thrusts is to help downtrodden victims like Ms. B. with acute costs of getting out of traumatic situations.
Domestic violence affects millions of women annually and there is no shortage of shelters and advocacy organizations to help them. However, the question is often left unasked: how are they supposed to get to the shelter? How can they call the advocacy group when their phone, cell phone, and pager are all in the name of an often abusive, often prying significant other? Often the chat room, the IM, the online forum is the only outlet, the only place they can scream for help safely. Clicks of Hope helps the victim get to safe "point B" from which they can regroup and plan out the nerve-racking process of rebuilding their lives. Clicks of Hope provides an oasis of time, a breather. A sense of security that at least there is a way out for right now. Because to many victims, right now is all they can hope to get through.
Hope should never be more than a click away.
future endeavors
Clicks of Hope is currently in the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) charitable status. Until we do so, unfortunately donations will not be tax-deductible. We hope to be able to assist all types of victims of violent trauma and assault, one life at a time, one donor at a time. We pride ourselves on aiding actual people through our endeavors. Each one, reach one.
